| March 2011 Logie Steading March 9th, 10th and 11th (Wed, Thur & Fri ) 2 Days £140, 3 Days £ 180 BINDING A LIBRARY STYLE JOURNAL WITH RULED PAGES or BOOK RESTORATION There will the opportunity to bind at least one large and robust, traditional book - the Library Style - from start to finish acquiring and developing a range of bookbinding skills. No previous binding experience is necessary and as always, Laura will have sumptuous papers, cloths and leather to enable you to make something really special. Although this will be the main "project" you may alternatively want to work on a personal book project - just let Laura know in advance so that the appropriate course notes and materials will be on hand. BOOK RESTORATION Alternatively, there will be the opportunity to bring a treasured book back to life and preserve it for years to come. This is a class in practical restoration to sympathetically restore an old favourite, it is not a class in conservation for very delicate or precious documents although if you have such books or documents please bring them along for advice on their preservation. For those interested, the tooling stove, lettering and some basic decorative tools will be on hand, although if labels are required, please contact Laura in advance.This course is for students who have already acquired basic bookbinding skills. Class numbers are imited to a maximum of 4 students. Both these classes run simultaneously over the three days. All materials will be provided as well as tools for use during the class.
